Rationale and Purpose of the Module:

A 3 months internship is a required 18 ECTS component of the 2 year Erasmus mundus master program in the Psychology of Global Mobility, Inclusion and Diversity in Society. Students are required to spend 300 hours on professional placement in an NGO or other organization dealing with diversity and inclusion, migrants or other minority groups (including international students, disadvantaged groups). In the course of the internship the student is supervised and evaluated by the 1) university internship supervisor, and the 2) internship institution external supervisor. In addition, a seminar complements the practical work, given by a university lecturer(24h). The internship seminar requires students' active participation, namely the presentation and discussion of the work developed in the course of the internship. Students are strongly encouraged to develop their master thesis project based on their experience during the internship.

Syllabus:

In the course of the Global Minds Praxis (300h) the student is supervised by the university internship supervisor, and the internship institution external supervisor, and participates in an internship seminar (24h), coordinated by the university supervisor. The seminar methodology does not involve a syllabus in the classical sense, with specific contents, but focuses on the preparation and delivery of 4 individual presentations: 1st presentation on the internship institution and internship plan 2nd and 3rd presentations of performed tasks and mobilized knowledge and skills; 4th presentation on the critical assessment of the internship using the SWOT analysis. Specific topics will be addressed and discussed throughout the internship, namely: 1 - Application Areas of Social and Intercultural Psychology; 2 - Communication and interpersonal relationships in organizational / institutional contexts; 3 - Teamwork; 4 - Conflict management and negotiation in the workplace; 5 - Ethical behaviour and professional ethics; 6 - Participation in projects and preparation of reports.

Students who successfully complete the internship will be able to: 1. Use theoretical and methodological tools of social and intercultural psychology to approach concrete problems in the context of the internship; 2. Actively participate in setting the internship goals and program; 3. Examine and critically think about the activities carried out during the internship, as well as in relation to developed knowledge and skills. 4.Contact institutions that grant professional internships, mobilizing employability skills.

5. Show maturity and interpersonal skills required for professional integration; 6. Respect the ethic rules of the profession, keeping secrecy of all matters that come to the student's knowledge concerning the internship; 7. Show sensitivity and learning and response ability before the diverse internship situations;

How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:

The verification of the intended learning outcomes is conducted exclusively within the continuous assessment scheme: - Participation in a minimum of 80% of the seminars and conducting all individual presentations; - Presentation of a poster with a critical assessment of the internship (25%) - Internship Report to be assessed by the course coordinator (50%); - Assessment of the internship by the internship institution external supervisor using a standardized assessment form (25%).
